Rustic Sudz began with a mission. Tired of having to worry about all the nasty chemicals and nefarious corporations maliciously selling toxic soap and skincare products, Philip J. Pasco decided it was long past time to return to the methods of making soap that our ancestors used. He set out to find a way to make soap the old way.
During a trip to Bulgaria he was given a very strangely shaped bar of soap made out of lard, it was brown and unscented and resembled tree bark, but it lathered and cleansed just as well as any industrial soap, but without all the health risks. Amazed by the properties of this soap he taught himself how to recreate it using just lard and lye, while adding essential oils and plant-based colorants to appeal to different people's tastes.
With a natural soap that Philip could now depend on that was devoid of seed oils, harmful chemicals, shady business practices, and extremist agendas, he knew that there must be others out there also on a quest to find a soap just like this one. A tea tree oatmeal soap he had formulated even got a rave review from a close friend who has eczema and noticed that it had improved after using his soap for several weeks.
He started making more, experimenting with different fragrance combinations and colors, all while staying true to tradition and unleashing the power of lard. Rustic Sudz was born in 2024 when the first vendor booth opened up in Middletown, CT, and from there the company has only gotten more passionate about sharing our miracle soap.
Sometimes the old ways are the best ways.
